Our verdict
For a bedroom or living room up to roughly 358 ft² (at 4.8 air changes per hour), the Core 400S is a low-power, quiet-on-paper choice with useful app scheduling. Note that Levoit’s own documents list different CADR figures (see below), and that its combined filter replaces HEPA and carbon together.

- Running 24/7 on low power (38W)

- Rooms much larger than 400 ft²

What to know before you buy
- CADR discrepancy: Levoit’s current product page lists 231 CFM, while some older Levoit materials list a higher figure. We use the current page.
- Filter: one cylindrical filter combines the pre-filter, HEPA and carbon stages. Check Levoit’s filter guidance for replacement intervals.
- Placement: it draws air in 360°, so leave space on all sides.
Compare it with the Winix 5500-2 and Coway Airmega.
