What to look for in air purifiers

CADR first

Clean Air Delivery Rate (in CFM) is the most comparable number. Higher CADR cleans a given room faster.

Read the room size footnote

Brands quote room size at different air changes per hour (1, 2, 4.8 or 5 ACH). Compare at the same ACH, ideally 4.8 or 5.

Noise at the speed you will use

The low number is sleep mode. The high number is what you hear when it is actually working hard.

Filter life and type

Check how often the HEPA and carbon stages need replacing and whether the pre-filter is washable.
