Roborock and Dreame are the two brands most often cross-shopped at the top of the robot vacuum market. Their current flagships, the Roborock Saros 20 and the Dreame X50 Ultra, both vacuum and mop, lift their mops over carpet, climb raised thresholds and wash their mop pads with hot water in a self-emptying dock. The differences are in the details: suction rating, robot height, how high they climb and how the dock works.
Short answer
On manufacturer specs, the Roborock Saros 20 claims the higher suction (36,000 Pa vs 20,000 Pa), a hotter mop wash (212°F vs 176°F) and a slimmer 3.14 in body. The Dreame X50 Ultra has a smaller, lighter dock, a mop pad that can detach and extend toward edges, and a 3.2 L dust bag rated for up to 100 days, versus Roborock’s up to 65 days. Both climb two-step thresholds. Choose Roborock for maximum rated suction and low-furniture clearance; choose Dreame for a more compact dock and longer between bag changes.

Who should buy which
These are both flagship systems, and either is a strong pick for a home with mixed floors. Choose the Roborock Saros 20 if you have low-clearance sofas and beds or thick rugs, where its slimmer body and higher suction rating matter most. Choose the Dreame X50 Ultra if dock size and maintenance matter more: it has the smaller dock and Dreame’s longer bag interval. Owner reviews for both brands frequently praise mopping and obstacle avoidance and mention app learning curves.
Threshold figures are as published. Dreame’s global page lists 60 mm two-step and 42 mm single-step climbing; its US page lists 2.36 in.
Choose the Roborock Saros 20 if…
- Furniture clearance is under about 3.5 in
- You want the highest rated suction
- You want the hottest mop wash
- You use Matter for smart home
Choose the Dreame X50 Ultra if…
- You want a smaller, lighter dock
- You want fewer dust-bag changes
- You want mops that can come off for carpet-only cleaning
- You want the bigger clean-water tank
Does the suction number matter?
Pascal ratings are useful for comparing models within a brand, but brands don’t measure them the same way, and real pickup also depends on brush design, airflow and the dustbin path. Treat 36,000 Pa vs 20,000 Pa as a sign of how much headroom each maker has given the motor, not a direct cleaning score. On carpet, both brands use carpet detection to boost suction and lift or remove the mops.
Dock footprint and placement
Measure before you buy. The Roborock dock is 15.00 in wide, 18.70 in deep and 19.21 in tall; the Dreame dock is about 18 in wide, 13.4 in deep and 23.2 in tall. The Dreame is taller but shallower and lighter. Both need open space in front for docking; check each manual for clearance.
Cheaper models from each brand
If flagship prices are too high, both brands sell lower-tier robots with similar dock features. On the Roborock side, the Saros 10R (covered in our Roborock vs Narwal comparison) is a step down. Compare suction, obstacle avoidance and mop washing temperature as you go down each range.
Frequently asked questions
Is Roborock or Dreame better?

Can these robots go under my couch?
The Saros 20 is 3.14 in tall. The X50 Ultra is 89 mm (about 3.5 in) with its VersaLift sensor lowered. Measure the gap under your furniture and allow a little clearance.
Do they handle door thresholds?
Both are designed to climb two-step thresholds: Roborock lists up to 1.77 + 1.69 in, and Dreame lists up to 60 mm (2.36 in) two-step.
How often do I empty the dock?
Roborock says up to 65 days. Dreame says its 3.2 L bag lasts up to 100 days. Pets and larger homes shorten both.
